Time Drift

“Time Drift” is the third track from my instrumental EP Distant and Close. It was composed during a moment of inner suspension, the kind of moment when you’re neither truly here, nor fully there. Just adrift, held in a liminal pocket of time.

In this piece, every layer was built to express that stretch: when your mind wanders through memories, or projects itself into futures that never happened. The synths are fluid, almost aquatic, and the pulsations are irregular on purpose, not chaotic, but detached, like breathing in a dream.

I’ve always been fascinated by the way time bends in our perception. One hour waiting in silence does not feel like one hour playing music. “Time Drift” is my attempt to translate that sensation musically, not in a didactic way, but in an intuitive one. It’s a piece you don’t need to follow; you just float with it.

Some listeners said it gave them the feeling of watching clouds from a train window, or walking late at night through an empty city. I love that. Because “Time Drift” is not meant to guide; it’s meant to accompany.

I made this track while working on my sleep cycles and digital balance. It was part of a series of instrumentals where I tried to explore a different form of expression, with no lyrics, no verses. This EP became a silent manifesto of sorts, for slowing down and being present with nothing but sound.

You can hear “Time Drift” as part of the 4-track vinyl and digital release available here. Or simply hit play, close your eyes, and let the drift begin.
