A Winter Without Snow, A Season Full of Meaning
Mid-December has arrived, yet Brussels remains strangely mild. No snow, no frozen streets, no white silence, and still, we all secretly long for that comforting image of a white Christmas. The kind where time slows down, where you sink into an armchair with a hot cup of tea, letting the world soften around you.
This episode opens precisely in that space between expectation and reality. Phillip Foxley’s Promises (Unplugged Version) sets the tone: stripped back, intimate, honest. A song that doesn’t try to impress, but instead invites you to stay a little longer with your own thoughts. This is what this Salon is about, sharing unique tracks, small gems meant to loop endlessly, resonating quietly throughout the weekend. Pearls from yesterday and today, carried by emotion rather than urgency.
Tomy Laisto’s Reminiscence extends that suspended moment. A gentle continuation, like memory itself, never loud, never linear, but deeply present. Welcome to Episode 33 of Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda.
Creation as a Shared Table
There is something profoundly human about collaboration. When two composers, one Greek, one German, sit metaphorically at the same table, something unexpected happens. POV, by Antonis Vlavo and Maïk Barter of To Die In Beauty, is born from that encounter. A shared perspective shaped by distance, culture, and trust.
This spirit of vulnerability continues with I Was Falling by CRED, followed by my own instrumental Digital Detox. Together, these tracks speak about letting go, of control, of noise, of constant connection. They remind us that falling is not always a failure; sometimes it’s the only way to feel gravity again.
Dreams, Echoes, and the Weight of the 90s
We then move to France, with Sinead’s Daily Dreams. A song that lives somewhere between routine and hope, capturing the fragile beauty of ordinary days.
And then comes Kingdom by Ginger and The Peppers. A track that immediately sets the tone for their new album, one I wholeheartedly recommend. Personally, it pulls me back to the early 90s, to bands like Veruca Salt, whom I adored in 1994 with songs like Seether or Benjamin, later in 1997. That same raw clarity, that same emotional directness, proof that certain energies never disappear, they simply evolve.
First Time Heard, First Time Felt
This episode also holds two world premieres.
First, 54 The Kingdom by French artist Lien. I listened once. Then again. And again. In this track, I hear everything I love about progressive rock, echoes of Alan Parsons, Genesis in the Peter Gabriel era, yet filtered through a singular voice. What makes it even more striking: it was composed alone, in less than 30 hours. A true musical feat, where instinct meets mastery.
That rich musical landscape then opens the door to another world premiere, one I did not see coming a few months ago. You already know Nadine de Macedo, the incredibly prolific German producer whose technical precision is widely admired. You also know Sonia Hutchinson, the unmistakable voice behind Crowsilver. Together, they deliver The Secret of the Future, a song I now consider the very best I have heard in 2025. Powerful, emotional, timeless. Some songs don’t just belong to a year; they define it.
Memory, Resistance, and Gentle Farewells
From there, my Italian friends Pinhdar take us into Solanin. I think of them often, especially knowing they recently opened for Tanita Tikaram, an artist I listened to obsessively in the early 90s. There’s a quiet lineage there, a continuity of sensitivity.
Then comes Remember, America by Gizmosophy, released today. A title that speaks for itself; reflective, urgent, and necessary.
We close this episode softly, preparing ourselves for the weekend ahead. Next week, we’ll meet again for a special Christmas edition, filled with beautiful new releases. Until then, thank you, sincerely, for your loyalty, your curiosity, and your support.
You’ll always find us on Mitxoda.be, and across the indie universe. Thanks to OTAT247 for the technical support and warm welcome, to Muriel from My Indie Radio, and to Zenerulett Rádio for rebroadcasting Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda on their waves.
Keep supporting independent music. It needs you, and you need it too.
We part ways with Behind Her Eyes by Indecent Proposal.
