There are days when the universe gently reminds you that live radio is… well, live.
This week, that reminder came from something as trivial and yet as powerful as daylight saving time. Somewhere across the Atlantic, clocks moved forward in the United States, and suddenly, without realizing it, your humble host started Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda at 15:00 Brussels time instead of the announced 16:00.
Yes. One full hour early.
After announcing the show everywhere.
Social media. Messages. Reminders.
Boom. Indie chaos.
For a moment, it felt like the kind of cosmic joke that only musicians and radio hosts truly understand. But that’s the beauty of this strange indie world we share: nothing is ever really lost. The show lives on, recorded and waiting patiently on Mixcloud for anyone who wants to dive back into the sounds we explored together.
And what a journey it was.
Of course, I shared the excitement of the week, including the very first concert of SEVEN Rock Opera, where we played in front of 120 people in a wonderfully wild atmosphere. A dystopian story of memory, machines, and strange love between humans and AI, brought to life by incredible musicians… and opened by the brilliant Belgian band The Electrozixx, whom I had the pleasure of meeting for the very first time.
Back in the Salon, the music kept flowing.
We opened with a beautiful world premiere from Clark Ford, whose Celebrate The Sun felt like the perfect invitation to step into the light. More premieres followed: Platronic with the powerful Fortress of Fools, Execunit with their brand new Like a God, and J&M Band, delivering another first spin with the magnificent Mesmerizing.
Moments like these are why the Salon exists, giving new songs their first breath in the open air.
There were also warm reminders of friends along the indie road: SFSF, Morino, Mike Stollen (wherever you are out there in Qatar, I hope everything is good, my friend), and the ever-beautiful Sea by Minna Ora.
And then the time machine kicked in.
Suddenly we were travelling through riffs and decades, drifting into blues-tinged rock landscapes with Brass Camel, before diving headfirst into the glorious 70s-flavored progressive rock energy of Thunder Rising, exactly the kind of sound that makes the soul smile.
Another chapter opened with RedPrint and their timeless Immersion, followed by a quieter, atmospheric passage: Evig Natt with Gråtaslaget, From Sheep To Wolves and Ephemeris, Blonde Rose, and the always evocative Cul de Sac Kings.
Not in that order, but who cares 🙂
One hour early.
But still full of music, stories, and discoveries.
Because in the end, indie music has its own relationship with time.
Clocks change. Algorithms move. Schedules shift.
But songs?
Songs always find their moment.
And if you missed the live chaos caused by this transatlantic clock confusion, the Episode 46 replay is waiting for you on Mixcloud.
Take your time.
Press play.
Let the Salon welcome you in.
Love,
Mitxoda
