Episode 58: Good News Between the Notes

Sometimes, a radio show becomes more than a playlist.

Episode 58 arrived with unexpected good news landing right in the middle of the broadcast. The kind of news that makes you smile while the music keeps flowing.

Yet my thoughts were also with Arnaud from LZMP.

Some moments in life ask us to slow down and remember that music is not only about promotion, releases, algorithms, or streams. Sometimes it is simply about standing beside someone who needs support. Indie communities have always been built on people caring for one another, and this week felt like one of those moments.

The music itself took us everywhere.

Some songs stayed for three minutes. Others decided that three minutes were nowhere near enough. One track stretched beyond eleven minutes, proving once again that creativity does not care much about modern attention spans. It invited us to sit down, breathe, and travel a little further than expected.

And somehow, despite the length, despite the twists and turns, nobody lost the melody. Nobody lost the voice. Nobody lost the note.

That’s one of the beautiful contradictions of independent music. Artists are free to explore, to experiment, to wander. Yet the best songs always find their way back home.

Along the journey, familiar friends appeared as well. The powerful sounds of Distance From Zero reminded us why they have become regulars in the Salon. Nadine de Macedo once again brought her unique sensitivity and musical elegance with Jay El Dee, adding another chapter to the endless conversation that independent artists continue to have across borders and oceans.

From one continent to another, from quiet moments to explosive ones, Episode 58 felt like a reminder of why this Salon exists.

No trends to chase, no formula’s to follow.

But to create a space where songs can breathe, where artists can be heard, and where listeners can discover something they never knew they were looking for.

Thank you for spending another Friday afternoon with me.

The door of the Salon remains open.

There is always another story waiting behind the next song.
