Episode 68: Away, Still Listening

Two hours of music. No microphone. No new submissions this time.

Summer has caught up with me a little, and I simply haven’t had enough time to properly listen to and process all the tracks you’ve been sending. I’m sorry for that, they’re still there, waiting for my ears, and they’ll find their way into the Salon soon.

For Episode 68, I went back instead to songs that already belong to this strange, beautiful little universe we’ve been building together.

And listening to the full sequence, I realised how much it feels like a journey.

It starts almost suspended in the air: Patience, reminiscence, shadows, distant voices, acoustic promises. There’s something introspective in the first part of the show, sometimes fragile, sometimes slightly uncomfortable, music that doesn’t necessarily ask for attention, but somehow gets it anyway.

Then things gradually open up.

Dreams, memories, traffic lights, teenage impulses, blue moods and secrets about the future. Guitars appear, disappear, come back louder. The borders between electronic music, alternative rock, prog, pop, acoustic songwriting and heavier sounds become wonderfully irrelevant.

Exactly how I like it.

Somewhere in there, there are also alligators in Chicago, or apparently there aren’t, Belgian mosquitoes, a surprising guitar duel, ancient waters, ghosts, and finally Earthside, which feels like quite a fitting place to land after two hours of wandering.

You’ll also hear two of my own tracks, Patience and Digital Detox. The latter feels particularly appropriate: I’ll be spending a few days in Spain, away from the microphone and hopefully a little away from screens too.

So I won’t be talking during this episode.

Just music.

Twenty-seven tracks, two hours, no borders, no urgency. A summer Salon where the doors remain open even when the host has temporarily escaped somewhere further south.

Enjoy Episode 68.

And to everyone who has sent me new music recently: thank you for your patience. I haven’t forgotten you.

The Salon is simply running on summer time. ☀️
