Le Salon indie de Mitxoda, Episode 19 – September 05, 2025
A gathering beyond routine
Back to school. Back to work. Back to reality.
But tonight, we proved that routine isn’t the only path. Dozens of us gathered live, scattered across countries, cities, kitchens, cars, and Discord channels, breathing together in this strange, beautiful rhythm we call the indie world.
When so many people show up, really show up, in the moment, it becomes a ritual where music still carries us beyond illusions, into something real, fragile, and strong at the same time.
A voice to open the doors
Zoe Glencross and her band Somethin’ Brewin’ gave us the keys with Remember Me. The song was a gentle invitation to sit down, to breathe, to let your guard down. And yes, I had cookies on the table, tea and coffee in the kitchen, orange juice if you needed it. This salon belongs to you as much as it does to me.
The islands of sound
From the UK, Zoom Unit (Clearwater Overlook) and The Beautiful Revolution (Break Away) reminded us that not everything was written in the sixties. Small islands still sparkle. Break Away hit me right in the chest, my little crush of the week, hands down <3 .
Loss, resilience, and revenge
Gregg Wietstock (Lies and Pies) and Ace It Moe (Fading Memory) walked us through truth and grief. Søren Madsen’s story losing his mother young, finding healing through remembering the light, moved me deeply. Music is how we stitch broken fabric.
Then, Scotland arrived with drama: The Stellar Anderson Project and Wicked Woman. A woman walking into her own funeral to claim vengeance, what a tale, what a premiere. Goosebumps.
New voices, close to home
Namur brought us Ava Gratia and her Traffic Lights, a Belgian world premiere. Tender, glowing.
Silicon Kong followed with Falling From Grace (I’m a Beautiful Disaster), equal parts dark humor and bright defiance. Born in Pittsburgh, heading toward a rockumentary release, this project is full of contradictions that somehow make sense.
And then, La Fraude. A collaboration with Doryphore that I cherish, not only for the song but for the promise of more to come.
Toward the road, toward friends
This weekend I’ll be on the road to meet friends in flesh and blood, at the first Indiependence Day 2025. Nadine de Macedo, Maïk from To Die in Beauty, Christof from Hollow Words, Christian from Electric Blindfold, Joo Baldi, Markus Gengvej… this is what life feels like when the digital meets the real. More on that soon.
But before leaving you, I want to hold onto this: today, so many of you were there. Driving across Germany. Sitting in a Brussels office. Listening from France. Or promising me on Discord that you’ll learn French someday (my answer: we have all the time in the world).
Closing the windows, holding the warmth
We closed the session gently: Lumenta (When I’m Gone), Wicked Tears (You’re My Everything), and Rhythm of One by Steve Eaker (Why Did You Lie To Me). Music as a blanket, windows shut, tea finished, warmth still glowing.
Thank you for making this salon real. Without you, it’s just notes. With you, it’s alive.
