Episode 20: INDIEpendence DAY in Münster

A night where avatars turned into faces, songs into conversations, and a simple idea became real: the first INDIEpendence DAY gathering.

We began slowly, almost shyly. To Die in Beauty – Secret Lover (Allie’s Version) was the gentle conductor of the evening, giving us room to breathe. I had chosen Mitxoda – Patience right before, not by accident. As usual, I wanted everyone to land softly, to take the time to feel the weight of the moment. And yes, I was nervous: a Belgian among all these Germans, my ears torn between music and a language I only half-understood. But that tension? It was part of the magic.

Then came Gengvej – Só o sol, bursting light into the room. Suddenly the timidity cracked. We laughed, we stumbled with our luggage, we crossed that fragile line between online and real. Morino – Ray Of Sound was missed in person, but present in spirit, proof that a track can travel further than a body. Choosing those songs wasn’t random, they were bridges, opening doors to smiles we hadn’t shared yet.

The fire started when SFSF entered with I’m Gonna Come To You In A Magic. A mirror, a wink, almost meta. From there the mood shifted: less polite, more real. Mitxoda – Digital Detox was my way of saying it out loud: look, we don’t need screens tonight. We’re here, no filters. By the time Joo Baldi – Notte d’Inferno, Electric BlindFold – Throat Song, and Hollow Words – The Sinister Daily took over, the conversations were raw: anger, doubts, that urge to smash walls and build again. That’s what I wanted;  independence, unmasked.
But nights like these aren’t only fire. They need tenderness too. Jasmin O’Davidson – Halt die Zeit an stopped time, reminding us that such instants deserve to linger. The Kind Machine – Hearts in Bloom brought colour, like a bouquet passed from hand to hand. And then Aliènor – The Raven laid a dark feather on the table, a balance of shadows against our laughter. These choices were an arc, a way to frame what we were living in real time.
And then came the goodbye that wasn’t one. Nadine de Macedo – Auf Wiedersehen (feat. Momente-Galerie) whispered: not farewell, just “see you soon.” I needed that tenderness before the road back. Himmellaya – Autobahn to Dusseldorf was exactly that: the ride, the wind, the sense of leaving but still carrying it all in your chest. And finally, Equit – Lose Me to the Night. A surrender. Because the Salon Indie is about letting yourself fall into the moment.

After Münster

I was proud to be there, proud to host this 20th episode, proud of the songs I picked. Every choice was a risk, every track a key to unlock something fragile in the room. And it worked. For one night, borders dissolved. Languages blurred. We weren’t Belgian, German, or anything else. We were simply indie, together.
