Solving Issues: A Note on Spamming and Real Connections

Sometimes, navigating the indie music world leads to moments of frustration, like when I received a copy-pasted message multiple times from a so-called “distribution team.” The message was generic, robotic, and plastered across unrelated discussions. Classic spam.

But instead of ignoring it, I chose to respond thoughtfully. Why? Because indie music thrives on authentic human connection, not mass promotion tactics. I reminded them (and others who might do the same) that building genuine relationships takes time and effort. It’s not about flooding inboxes but about truly understanding the soul of the artist and the music they create.

So here’s the takeaway: let’s value real conversations, collaborations, and mutual respect. Spam might get attention, but connection builds community. And isn’t that what indie music is all about?
