Being Free, A New Chapter for 2025

Being free means Respect

Respect for others, respect for ourselves, and respect for the work we each put into building a community that uplifts and inspires. As I look ahead to this new year, I feel the need to address something important: the value of mutual understanding and the need for positivity in our shared indie space.

This newsletter is my garden. It is a place where ideas, music, and connections grow. It’s open to all, but with one simple rule: respect. Respect for the time, effort, and dedication that every individual pours into their work, no matter how big or small.

Unfortunately, I’ve recently felt hurt. Hurt by negativity, by an attitude of entitlement, and by the disregard for the effort it takes to create something meaningful. Let me be clear: no one owns the indie world. See the Indie World as the ocean, a vast, shared space that no one owns, yet everyone can explore and draw inspiration from. Just as the ocean connects and nourishes all who interact with it, the indie world thrives on the contributions and connections of its many participants, without belonging to any single entity. No one is obliged to contribute or take part. The beauty of it lies in the genuine connections and creations that come from the heart, enriching this shared space in their own unique way.

This community thrives because of mutual exchanges, shared creativity, and a willingness to support one another. It is not a space for frustration over being forgotten in an email or mentioned in a newsletter.

Being free means Comfort

We are all here because we love what we do. I spend countless hours writing, discussing, and connecting, not because I have to, but because I believe in the power of this community. I do it with pleasure in English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Hungarian. I believe in creating a safe and welcoming space where people feel comfortable to share, to receive, to collaborate. Hate, anger, and selfishness have no place here.

This doesn’t mean we always have to agree or see things the same way, but it does mean we should approach one another with kindness. Disrespect, discouragement, and attempts to undermine what others build serve no one. And while I understand that not everyone will see eye to eye, I will not let negativity take root in this garden.

For those who feel they need to express frustration or criticism, I encourage you to do so constructively. Engage in dialogue, reach out, and offer feedback that builds rather than tears down. This is how we grow, not just as individuals, but as a community.

Being free means Positivity

As we step into 2025, my focus remains clear: to foster a space of respect, creativity, and collaboration. I invite everyone who shares these values to join me in creating something beautiful. For those who may not share these values, I respect your journey and kindly ask that this space remains a positive haven for those who do.

My freedom is not up for debate, nor is the respect I have earned from those who truly know and understand me. This is not about being seen as someone or something, it’s about giving back to a community I believe in. I do this with my own two hands, my broken laptop, and a passion for indie music that never wavers.

Being free means A Permanent Open Door

This year marks a fresh start. My garden is once again a safe and open space, beautifully decorated with mutual respect and the shared love of music. To those who have supported me and this newsletter, thank you. You are the reason this community thrives, and I am endlessly grateful.

Here’s to a 2025 filled with positivity, creativity, and the freedom to be ourselves. Let’s keep building this indie world together: stronger, kinder, and more inspiring than ever.

Yours, forever,
Mitxoda
