Épisode 12: Under the Burning Summer Sky

Some weeks feel heavy before they even begin. Between data anxieties (thank you, WeTransfer) and fires that burn more than just forests or stages (yes, even Tomorrowland), we are reminded: the world is fragile. And yet, music arrives like a quiet resistance. A ritual. A cup of tea. A moment where breath and sound meet silence and meaning.

So here we are again. Welcome to the twelfth chapter of Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda.

We began with Patience, as usual. Then Kingdom II opened its gates, a cinematic invitation from Ataraxia. Phillip Foxley and Deri gently reminded us that it’s up to us. To feel. To create. To rebuild what falls apart.

And from the depths of memory, Inyha sang of a paper rabbit and a father’s presence. A childhood folded into melody. Then, Desertland: my own instrumental echo of exile, absence, and inner cartography.

What follows is not just a playlist. It’s a passage. A liminal space between voices and intentions. Rod Savage’s romantic declaration. A remote collaboration between Antonis Vlavo in Thessaloniki, Vana Rose in Athens, and their producer in snowy Finnish Lapland. Freeze Frame Solitude: the sound of distance made intimate.

We crossed irony with truth in the reggae-rock satire of Distance From Zero, who tells us about passion and survival, that are not mutually exclusive. Andy Smith whispered elliptical truths in LLT. Storm Kingdom turned grief into grace. Nadine de Macedo, as always, broke genres and boundaries with Embrace the Storm, featuring Nadia Selvaggi’s haunting clarity.

Some songs, like RedPrint’s director’s cut of Colour Me Insane, deserve to stretch their limbs. Others, like Lucid at Midnight by Neon Vampire, only need a breath to leave their trace.

This episode ends, as all moments do, with time’s gentle reminder. Matt Kik says it best: Timeflies!

Thank you for joining me on this weekly pilgrimage. Next week, it will be my birthday. We’ll celebrate, not just me, but this fragile miracle of indie creation, of connection without filter. Of resisting indifference with beauty.

Until then, keep your ears open and your spirit kind.
