"Some questions survive the person who first asked them. Written almost twenty years ago, “Who Are We ?” returns as part of Nikola Zenko’s A Story About a Girl, an album revisiting songs composed between 2003 and 2008. Zenko describes a fuller indie-rock recording that preserves the original’s raw questioning spirit. Its subject is the self we assemble under other people’s gaze, and the uncertainty that follows. To me, revisiting that question after so much time gives the project its interest: an older voice returning to a doubt that never entirely grew old."

"Rain-soaked window at dusk, watching someone you love disappear inch by inch. Zenko's guitar arpeggiates like prayer beads while violin threads through the spaces between heartbeats—but it's that weary drum pattern that bruises deepest, mimicking a chest too tired to keep fighting. You'll carry that final violin phrase for days."
