Last Friday, 25 April 2025, we dimmed the lights, lit an imaginary candle, and pressed play on something new: “Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda.” One hour later, our virtual living-room was buzzing with warmth, surprise, and the unmistakable crackle of DIY creativity.
A soft launch that felt like home
From the very first notes of my unreleased track “Patience” to the closing piano of “La Chute”, the show flowed exactly as I’d hoped: unhurried, intimate, full of breathing-room. Listeners dropped in from Canada, Belgium, Australia, USA, Germany,… proof that independent music still hops borders faster than any algorithmic playlist.
Celebrating one year of Mitxoda
Episode 0 doubled as a birthday. Twelve months ago Mitxoda was just a late-night impulse; now it’s a constellation of songs, collaborations, and friendships. Your messages, shares, and headphones turned that impulse into a pulse. Thank you for every play.
Shout-outs where they’re due
OTAT247, Dave & Lisa — you handed me a microphone before I even knew what to say. Grateful doesn’t cover it.
LZMP francophone crew — your open-minded ears kept the chat lively and the queue of demos even livelier.
All the artists who trusted me with their music on a first episode: Mike Stollen, Kathleen Turner Overdrive, Distance from Zero, Histheory, Alix of Tomorrow, Crowsilver, The Sanctity of Crows, Multivariate Outliers, Nadine de Macedo, Ares Redemption — you set the bar high.
Highlights & happy accidents
- Timezones are hating me, and I almost missed the initial start!
- Mike Stollen’s Piece of Advice fit the vibe like it had been planned for days.
- The chat exploded during KTO’s Robot Girl and Crowsilver’s The Tower; apparently these ladies have a lot of secret fans.
- Lisa loved the playlist, as she said she was not even aware of these gems in their music collection!
- “I have a soothing DJ voice…” Mission accomplished for this episode zero!
