Welcome back to Le Salon indie de Mitxoda, now reaching its 14th episode. And if you’re reading this, chances are you’ve made this ritual yours too, an hour to sit back, breathe deep, and let the indie waves carry you elsewhere.
We opened this week with a thought: What if music is our collective therapy?
That question echoed through Aaron J Burke’s “My Therapy”, a track as honest as it is cathartic. Music has the rare ability to both reveal and rescue, pulling us away from chaos, yet bringing us closer to ourselves.
This Friday’s selection invites you to slow down and take it all in. Whether you’re joining from your kitchen, a quiet workspace, or a beach on the other side of the world: welcome. There’s always room for you in this ever-growing space we call the Salon. OTAT247 has many doors. We’ll keep opening them.
From Breeze to Beat
We gently slipped into the waters with Drunkelweizen’s cinematic Moonshine Overture, then crossed oceans to Canada with Michael Gabriel and his hypnotic In the Heat of the Night.
And then came Driver by H4RLIX X Gengvej, a ride worth taking.
Rock had its moment of glory, too, with The New Nothings, The Flying Beets, and Behind the Beach House lighting up the airwaves.
Special mention to David Cross from The Flying Beets, whose commitment to uplifting the indie scene is as inspiring as their latest hit, Be So Hard, a catchy, bold, unmissable gem.
Crosswinds from New Zealand to Vancouver
From the emotional pull of These Four Walls and their immersive Into The Ocean, to the gritty defiance of Rat Silo with Kill God Now, the energy shifted… but never waned.
And then, we landed in the desert.
A Breath, A Reflection
With Birdie Nichols, Linda Purrs, and JoDan Music, we entered a more contemplative stretch.
Whether through western imagery, soft vocals, or sandy guitar lines, these tracks brought stillness.
And then came La Vie File.
A stripped-back song of mine, (almost) just voice and guitar, that helped me redefine love and friendship, without hiding behind illusions. If this one resonates with you… I’d love to hear it.
Progressive Farewell
We closed the Salon with two prog revelations.
Chris Neufeld’s abNORMAL is a true solo creation, written, composed, and played by the artist himself. If you’re a fan of Steven Wilson, this one might strike a chord.
And finally, the majestic Mitra-Varuna by Greek outfit Urstaat saw us out in an atmospheric swirl.
Thank you for listening, for being here, and for opening your ears to this shared moment.
We’ll be back next Friday, as always, 4PM Brussels time, on OTAT247.
Until then, take care of your soul.
