Episode 53: May the First as Ever

There is something strange about the first days of May.

People open their windows again. Cities start breathing differently. Conversations escape into the streets. Coffee lasts longer. Nights become less defensive. And somewhere between uncertainty and sunlight, music returns to its rightful place, not as noise, not as background, but as company.

This 53rd episode of Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda is exactly that kind of companion.

Not a manifesto. Not a lesson. Just a long road crossing emotions, distorted guitars, fragile voices, strange electronic landscapes, and all those tiny human moments hidden between two songs.

We begin softly, with my own instrumental Patience. Maybe because patience is something the indie world understands better than anyone else. Waiting for ears. Waiting for opportunities. Waiting for peace. Waiting for tomorrow while still creating today.

Then suddenly, Drive Me Mad by Little Odetta arrives like a conversation you should probably avoid, but secretly want to continue forever.

From there, the Salon drifts into unexpected territories.

Histheory transforms the atmosphere completely with Stars On The Water (The Sanctity Of Crows Remix), a title that already feels like poetry floating over abandoned streets at 3AM. Then 404 by Red Sky reminds us that sometimes we are all partially disconnected beings trying to reload ourselves.

And maybe that is why The Fear of Missing Out by Distance From Zero hits differently right now.

Because the world constantly pushes us to run faster, react quicker, consume more, exist louder. Yet indie music has always done the opposite. It invites us to stop for a second. To feel. To observe. To remain imperfect.

That spirit continues with For Your Eyes by CRED, before Beasty Fan Music Club brings bittersweet honesty with If You Don’t Love Me. No filters. No unnecessary complexity. Just raw emotional gravity.

Somewhere in the middle of the show, Reaction Dependent by Containment feels almost philosophical. Are we becoming people who only exist through reactions? Through notifications? Through algorithms deciding what deserves attention?

The Salon refuses that logic.

Here, songs still arrive slowly. Like letters.

Nick Luddite’s Renegade carries that beautiful independent energy I love so much, stubborn, alive, untamed. And then Renegade Train enters with Uncertainty, which may secretly be one of the most accurate titles for 2026 itself.

Because honestly… who truly knows where the world is heading anymore?

But maybe music was never supposed to answer questions.

Maybe it simply helps us survive them.

Royal Commission pushes the journey further with Last Known Good Configuration, sounding almost like a lost transmission from another timeline. Then The Stellar Anderson Project reminds us that The Gods Of Rock and Roll never truly disappeared. They just moved into smaller rooms, independent radios, underground blogs, home studios, late-night Discord servers, and strange little corners of the internet where passion still matters more than numbers.

Hank C’s Don’t Get High Above Your Rising lands like wise advice disguised as a song title.

Stay grounded.

Even when things start moving.

Even when people applaud.

Even when the lights finally turn on.

And finally, Nadine de Macedo closes this journey with Goodbye Warrior, a title carrying both sadness and tenderness at once. Like saying farewell to exhaustion. To battles that no longer deserve us. To old versions of ourselves.

This is probably what Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda has become after all these months.

A place where artists from everywhere can coexist without needing permission. Without chasing trends. Without asking algorithms to validate their existence.

Just music.

Just humans.

Just moments suspended somewhere between Brussels and the rest of the world.

And honestly?

In times like these, that already feels revolutionary.
