The sky couldn’t settle. One minute, golden sun through the curtains. The next, a wall of rain. The kind of weather that makes you stop, not to complain, but to notice.
It felt like the perfect day to open the Salon. Because this week, more than ever, was about letting go. About stepping into the unknown and giving it a name.
We began slow, with Patience. Not a virtue, but a choice. A pulse. A reminder that the most beautiful things aren’t rushed.
Then came the first spark: a world premiere remix from the freshly released Into Deep album. Little Melody, by Electric Blindfold, reshaped by the one and only Gengvej. It floated through the frequencies like a late-night whisper from underwater. You didn’t dance, you glided. Right?
And just like that, the door was open.
From Canada, Killian Ruffley brought Ashes, a track that holds a question without forcing an answer. “To whom should we send our prayers?” he asks, and lets the echo carry it forward.
Then a shift, sudden, fierce, and heartfelt.
Kathleen Turner Overdrive. Australian. Femme-fronted. Zero compromise. Unseen tells the story of someone who never quite landed. A life marked by transience, loss, invisibility. The lyrics cut deep:
“No one can see you if you don’t want to be seen.”
That line is going to stay with me for a while. Check out today’s interview in the latest Mitxoda Weekly here!
We needed something bright next. Not lighter… just… wilder.
Enter RedPrint, straight from the Netherlands, with the totally irresistible world premiere I Think It’s Called Dave. The song’s title might be tongue-in-cheek, but the rhythm? Deadly serious. A new album is coming, you didn’t hear it from me (you totally did).
Brian Heywood, on the other hand, slowed us back down. Peace of Mind, due June 30, is his ecological call to arms. No slogans, just truth. A song that feels like a forest sighing. He’s from Australia too, and this was his very first play.
Then came a triple wave of world premieres, each different, each necessary.
First, David Fl’y, from France, and a member of the collective Let ZZEU Music Play. His challenge? Compose a song in 3/4. The result: Waltz of Memories. A track that felt like stepping into a time machine held together by candlelight and vinyl hiss.
Second, Jérôme Legrand brought his track Sands of House. No remix. No samples. Just his own universe. A smooth, steady dive into a hybrid world, somewhere between house nostalgia and cosmic minimalism. I could’ve sworn the floor moved when it played.
And third, my turn.
Écho Plastique, my first-ever track, reimagined by Gengvej on the Into Deep album.
The world premiere of Mitxoda x Gengvej – Écho Plastique (Into Deep Mix).
This one means a lot. Because sometimes, someone else hears your song and reveals a part of it you didn’t know was there. That’s what Gengvej did.
The Into Deep album is out now. It’s not just a remix compilation. It’s a landscape.
But the journey didn’t stop there.
From Greece, Antonis Vlavo teamed up with Deborah for This Form of Matter, a track that floats somewhere between the tangible and the intangible. A voice in vapor.
Then, back to the Netherlands with Have I Weather, offering us the stunning world premiere Figures. A song that doesn’t need to explain itself, it feels its way forward.
Morgenrøde followed from Denmark with Tit Tak. A letter to his first love, his mother. It’s one of those tracks you don’t really want to describe. Just… sit with it.
After that, I shared Seconde Vie, my own. Sometimes you need to hear your own voice again, to remind yourself that you’re still here.
And then Moyno let the sparrow sing. A tender close before the final descent.
But not quite the end.
We launched into a closing triptych that felt like a curtain call for the week:
David Torrance with Push It, bringing the pressure. Inoria with Broken Roots, where cracks let the roots show. And then, one last world premiere to break us open completely:
Streetside Philosophy – Breakneck.
Crafted 100% analog by John Spivey. Nothing fake. Nothing filtered.
Just emotion, tape, and breath.
I told you, don’t open your eyes yet.
Some music deserves a little more darkness, a little more stillness, before the day resumes.
