Episode 28: Patience, Tea, and the Coming Storm

How was your week? Mine felt strangely intense, that stillness before something shifts. Halloween fades, Christmas lights creep in, and yes… Mariah Carey is back on the radio. I haven’t turned on the heating in my indie lounge yet, blankets are here for the cold-blooded among you, and there’s tea. Always tea. Like “If You Don’t Love Me” by Beastie Fan Music Club, this week’s selection is here to keep you warm.

Welcome to Episode 28 of Le Salon Indie de Mitxoda.

Across Europe: The Electro Starter

As Cinco Dave said on Discord: “The European Dance Club is alive and kicking.” Between the OTAT247 and LZMP servers, I’ve been juggling playlists and conversations, and honestly, having a blast. This opening set is an electro-flavored cocktail: ee:man’s mesmerizing collaboration with Kirsten Schuhmann, Kim Lunner’s crisp synth-pop, the deep dark metal instrumental from The Shadow’s Gone Out, and Mathias Oskarsson’s gentle Scandinavian melancholy.

The Unexpected Duet

Here’s a curveball: a new collaboration between Nadine de Macedo and Cintale. We’ve known Nadine in many forms, electro, rock, hard rock, even metal, but this one is something else: gospel, melodic, beautifully unexpected.

People sometimes ask me where I find these tracks, or how such different genres land in one show. There’s no formula, it’s intuition. Feeling. The 12,000 tracks in OTAT247’s database give me a wide field, but I also dig Bandcamp and Subvert for hidden gems. A nod to Muriel Bessmann for tirelessly surfacing new artists, like Finland’s Minna Ora and her straight-up anthem Rock.

From Canada with Calm

Before the weekend rush, I wanted to slow things down. Mauve by Betrav Kolektiv is that pause, soft, introspective, textured.

Finale

To close, two breathtaking final acts: Deedra Patrick & Torgeot with Mystical Angel, a voice like light through stained glass, and then the storm of sound from the Netherlands with RedPrint and Immersion, a powerful, precise ending that leaves silence ringing in your chest.
